The future of ECO, how to engage customers and making retrofit work at scale will be the focus of the Retrofit Summit taking place on 05 December at the Business Design Centre in London.

David Strong from the Energy Efficiency Partnership for Buildings will open the one day policy conference with a debate on the future for ECO. George Osbourne is reported to be planning a cut of £75 off green taxes from household energy bills in his autumn statement on December 4 and the Retrofit Summit will be the first opportunity for the industry to discuss this shift in policy and how it will impact the retrofit market.

The conference programme then moves on to a panel session chaired by Solitaire Townsend, co-founder of Futerra, on whether or not we are engaging with customers effectively. Customers from both the domestic and non-domestic sectors will put forward their needs and why they’re not yet being met to a panel of industry representatives.

The afternoon looks at the challenge of making retrofit work at scale- from technical and access issues, through to finance, skills and the need for collaboration. This session, chaired by Terry McGivern from the Institute for Sustainability, will discuss what has already been done to tackle these issues, where we are still falling short and how we can engender a retrofit revolution.

The conference will conclude with a retrofit question time where a panel of policy and industry experts will take questions from delegates on hot retrofit topics of the day.

The Retrofit Summit will be co-located within Retro Expo - an exhibition of retrofit innovation featuring approximately 70 exhibitors including leading names such as BASF, Kingspan, ABBE and SIG360 Retrofit. Entry to Retro Expo is free. Tickets for the Retrofit Summit cost £195 per person + VAT. Launched in 2012, Retro Expo was the UK’s first major exhibition and conference dedicated exclusively to low carbon retrofits. The inaugural Retro Expo attracted over 3000 unique visitors in 2012, making it the most successful new event in the construction sector. The 120 exhibitors included major players such as Travis Perkins, Plumb Center, Carillion Energy Services, British Gas, E-ON and EDF, leading retrofit innovators including Knauf, Actis, Polypipe and many of the SMEs emerging in the sector. The highlights of the show were the free educational programme and the hugely popular Green Deal Summit.
