Retro Expo - a huge success

5th November, 2012

Over 3,000 visitors spent three days at Retro Expo seeing and hearing about the latest energy efficiency retrofit products and services and learning more about the Green Deal and what it means for them.  The unique Retrofit Buyers Forum was a huge success with over 250 meetings taking place between 65 participant buyers translating into significant new working relationships and wider market opportunities.

Speaking about the Forum, Susanna Salts from EDF Energy, said: "It was an ideal opportunity to meet and contact the right level of people to help drive forward ECO in 2013."

The Retro Expo Awards celebrated the UK's most inspiring retrofit products, projects and people. The Awards Ceremony attended by over 400 guests, hosted by Birmingham Energy Savers and Carillion Energy Services, honoured 12 pioneering initiatives. 150 exhibitors took part in the show. Many felt it was the ideal event to showcase their Green Deal offerings and have come away with high quality business leads.

The Green Deal Summit proved to be enormously popular with many sessions being standing room only. 85 speakers took part in the 7 modules with many major industry personalities explaining the Green Deal and ECO concepts in depth and detail. 'The quality of the Summit was excellent, extremely enlightening ' said Andrew Orriss, Head of Business Development at SIG 360.

The four retrofit knowledge Hubs proved successful in particular the sessions on sustainability and architecture by John Willoughby and Bill Gething. Many also attended Misha Hewitt's presentation on whole house retrofit and solid wall insulation.

Congratulations to our Dragon's Den winner Hilary Spicer from e-co - their innovative product wowed the Dragons. Their Ultra Violet C kills bio-films growing on the cooling coils of HEVAC systems thereby reducing resistance to airflow and significantly increasing thermal efficiency. Picking up the award Hilary said 'this should be in every air conditioner unit in every building in the UK as it will reduce MRSA by 40% and can reduce absenteeism due to ill health in many commercial buildings.'
