UK lost track of 2020 renewable energy target

The 2013 update report from the European Renewable Energy Council (EREC) released in June shows the UK off course for the 2020 renewable energy target, giving policy uncertainty, increasing difficulties in obtaining finance, and a "vocal minority" opposing expansion despite strong public support for renewables.

The UK appears to still not have met it's interim target for 2011/12, and growth of the renewable energy sector has slowed. Growth rates in the electricity and heat sectors would however still be sufficient to reach the 2020 target.
