Jablite wins refurbishment grants

19th August, 2013

Jablite is celebrating the results of three successful competition entries to the Invest in Innovative Refurb Fund which is managed by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) on behalf of DECC.

David Teasdale (pictured), Jablite’s Sales & Marketing Director, said: “This funding is helping us to develop intelligent insulation products that give improved thermal performance plus other benefits such as improved air quality, summer cooling and structural support.

“The UK must reduce energy use if we are to meet the 80% by 2050 reduction target. Improving our existing building stock maximises the benefit of embodied carbon. In most cases refurbishment is a better solution than demolition, when whole life carbon footprint over a 60 year period is taken into consideration.”

The three projects are; an external wall retrofit on a local authority office building using Jablite Dynamic insulation, a reinforced, encapsulating and weatherproofing insulation system for a  large asbestos cement profiled roof on a local authority depot and a complete building wrap using Jablite Dynamic insulation on the walls and roof of a concrete-panel school building.

Mark Wray, Lead Technologist, Low Impact Buildings Platform, TSB said: “These three projects being deployed by Jablite Limited will provide valuable product development with great potential across a spectrum of buildings in insulating complex walls and profiled pitched roofs.

“External wall insulation will play an important part in improving the energy efficiency of our non domestic building stock, which proves a challenge to deployment of traditional methods commonly used in the domestic sector

“We look forward to working with such an enthusiastic and responsive company in establishing in-use performance data.”
