First Ever Green Deal Assessment Lodged

21st December, 2012

The Green Deal is now ready to go live, with the first ever valid Green Deal Advice Report (GDAR) lodged to the central database on 10th December 2012 by DWA Surveyors, a Stroma-certified Green Deal Assessor Organisation. The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) describes the GDAR as the "gateway to the Green Deal" and this first lodgement means that the Green Deal is now ready to open to domestic customers. It was made possible when the first wave of Occupancy Assessment software tools was recently approved by DECC.

Stroma Certification's RSAP software was used to undertake Reduced Data Standard Assessment Procedure (RdSAP) calculations for the assessment. Alongside our Green Deal certification and training schemes, Stroma Certification has developed software to support Green Deal Advisors, Assessor Organisations, Installers and Providers at every single stage of the Green Deal.

Stroma's latest innovation is the first software module developed specifically to address the Energy Company Obligation (ECO): it provides a vital link between energy companies and Green Deal stakeholders, to direct ECO funding to suitable sources.

The tool interfaces with other Green Deal software modules to identify ECO-eligible properties at the Green Deal assessment stage; it then carries out funding and CO2 saving calculations to identify appropriate ECO-eligible measures. It also collects evidence of ECO funding levels provided, which energy companies are legally required to submit to OFGEM.

Matt Ferguson, Stroma Certification Director, commented: "This is an exciting time for the Green Deal, with the industry now ready to deliver: the next challenge is to engage consumers, by demystifying the Green Deal and simplifying the process of obtaining a Green Deal Plan. To achieve this, the industry will depend on a fully integrated IT solution such as Stroma's."
