A new initiative has been launched in the South West of England by the Energy Saving Trust, Regen SW, social housing providers and local authority partners. The initiative Ready for Retrofit will give a substantial boost to the energy efficiency and micro-generation sector in the South West.

The 8m Ready for Retrofit programme will help local businesses prepare for the eco-refurbishment of tens of thousands of homes by 2020 and take advantage of the huge opportunities presented by Government initiatives including the Green Deal, Feed in Tariff, Renewable Heat Incentive and Energy Company Obligation. Ready for Retrofit is helping to kick-start the massive eco-refurbishment task ahead by investing more than 6.5m in energy efficiency and micro-generation measures for social housing. Local businesses will be supported to grow and develop new quality products and services through improved staff development, technical know-and targeted marketing. The scheme will also help local trades people to improve their energy efficiency knowledge so they can identify energy savings for their customers.

Business can benefit from this programme by receiving individual business support to gain knowledge and up-skill in order to take advantage of this growing market, which is estimated at over 1.1 million domestic and non-domestic buildings investing in retrofit measures over the next 5 years.
