Cutting carbon emissions from Cambridge’s buildings by 30 per cent before 2050, in a £1 billion project, has been backed by the climate change secretary.

Ed Davey learnt about the Cambridge Retrofit scheme on a visit to the city yesterday.

The project aims to support energy improvements to 20,000 homes and 20,000 non-residential premises, including medieval colleges.

Mr Davey also visited Cambridge Cleantech in King’s Hedges Road.
